Information about the .log2 (log2) file type

Below is all the information we have available on file about the .log2 (log2) file type.

.log2

Windows Registry hive log file. The .log2 file is used to record the changes made to one of the Windows Registry hives.

This file (together with a .log1 file) will be found in the folder %SystemRoot%\System32\config. The exception to this is the user data hive (ntuser.data.log2) which is maintained separately for each user in %UserProfile%.
